| Columbia Jazz Band Concert - February 11, 2007 |

| Columbia, Maryland, January 13, 2007 – The Columbia Jazz Band will be performing on Sunday, February 11th, at 7:00pm at Howard Community College’s Smith Theater. This is a free concert. |

| The show will be all-encompassing, including jazz tunes from the swing era to present day. Works such as W. C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues (a shuffle arranged by John Denton), Pat Metheny’s Always and Forever (a Stan Kenton style ballad arranged by Bob Curnow), and Chuck Mangione’s Land of Make Believe (a Victor Lopez arrangement) will be heard. An outstanding Duke Ellington piece, Do Nothing ‘til You Hear From Me, along with other standards such as Too Close for Comfort, How Long Has This Been Going On, and They Can't Take That Away From Me will feature vocalist Jill Sandler. With Sinatra-style vocals, Matt Williams will be heard on Come Fly With Me, Ain't That A Kick in the Head, and Paper Moon. Plenty of instrumental soloists from each section of the band will also be featured. |

| The Columbia Jazz Band is a community jazz ensemble based in Columbia, MD. With over 20 outstanding musicians, the band rehearses once a week at River Hill High School and is directed by Pete BarenBregge; educator, music editor, woodwind artist, and former director of the USAF Airmen of Note. The instrumentation provides the traditional big band sound and this versatile band performs concerts, dances, parties and weddings throughout Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Prince George’s Counties. |

| Pete BarenBregge received a degree in Music Education from West Chester University and then taught instrumental music in Wilmington, Delaware for nine years. He entered the USAF and played tenor saxophone with the Airmen of Note. Mr. BarenBregge toured with the AON extensively, performing in 33 countries, as well as at U.S. venues such as Constitution Hall, the Boston Esplanade, and Carnegie Hall. Post-military, Mr. BarenBregge is nationally known for his talent on saxophone and flute, and continues to play and record as part of his jazz quartet, the Pete BarenBregge – Frank Russo Group. In addition to directing the CJB, he is currently the Instrumental Jazz Editor for Alfred Publishing / Belwin Jazz, and is also a frequent clinician and adjudicator at jazz festivals. |
